Mrs. Janice Arent
Business Teacher
My name is Janice Arent. I am originally from Maywood and graduated from Maywood High School. I received my Associate’s degree from McCook Community College, my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a Field Endorsement in Business Education, and my Master’s degree from Doane College in Curriculum and Instruction.
I am married to Randy Arent. He is a farmer and part-time carpenter. We have two sons. My oldest son, Kelvin, graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Civil Engineering. He works for Maneilli, Wagner, and Associates in Lincoln. My youngest son, Brandon, graduated from Southeast Community College in Milford with a degree in Automotive Technology. Brandon works at Janssen Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge in North Platte.
I am the Business Teacher and here at Maywood. Before teaching at Maywood, I taught two years at St. Paul, Nebraska and worked as a teller/assistant cashier at Farmers State Bank for five years. I teach Junior High Keyboarding, Introduction to Business, Business Law, Business Math, Accounting, Web Design, and Personal Finance. I am the Mock Trial sponsor, FBLA Advisor, and Assistant Track coach.
The mission is to ensure that students acquire the knowledge and skills that will prepare them for post-secondary education and entry into the workplace. The program focuses on education that offers students the opportunities to learn the knowledge, applications, and attitudes to succeed in school, in life and in the workplace. Students are prepared to be citizens, informed consumers and effective workers.
