My name is Alicia Shirley.  I am the First Grade teacher at Maywood.  I believe that every child has the right to learn to their fullest extent. Each child is their own individual person, and no two children will be alike so I strive to reach all learning styles.  I want all my students to get the best possible education to help them succeed in the adventures their life takes them on.

I am originally from North Platte, Nebraska.  After graduation I moved to Kearney, Nebraska to attend college.  I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with my BAE in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood.  Since then I have also received a K-6 Mild Moderate endorsement and have completed my Masters degree in K-8 Principalship.

My husband is Nate Shirley, and he is originally from Lexington, Nebraska. We were married on September 3, 2011. We currently reside in Maywood, Nebraska. We enjoy camping in the summer with our friends and family. We also enjoy golfing when we get the time. I also enjoy reading, I always have a book in some format with me and am known to be reading two or more books at any given time. 

My mission word for this year is INSPIRE. I am going to try and inspire those around me to be the best version of themselves while I myself and inspiring to do the same.
