An Outstanding Season for the Wolves!

RPAC Champions

Maywood-Hayes Center Boys Basketball had an amazing 2023-2024 season. Here are some highlights throughout the year!

On December 1st the MHC Wolves opened up their basketball season at Wallace. The MHC boys did amazing, at half time the Wolves lead the Wildcats 36-14. At the end of the game Our MHC Wolves defeated the Wildcats 71-37. December 8th the May-Hay Wolves traveled to McCook for the Cattle Trail Tournament semifinals. In McCook they played against Arapahoe. At the half, MHC Wolves lead Arapahoe 29-22. The Wolves preceded to defeat Arapahoe 55-43. They ended up playing in the championship game at McCook Community College the next day. December 9th, the Cattle Trail Championship game was played against DCS and won! The next game was played December 14th, MHC Wolves hosted the Brady Eagles in Maywood. The boys never stopped pushing, at half MHC was leading Brady 48-20. MHC won the game 72-31. On December 21st May-Hay Wolves basketball teams traveled to Paxton for the Championship games of the Paxton Holiday Tournament. Our MHC Wolves played against Paxton for this Tournament Championship and were down 19-23 at half time. MHC Wolves continued to battle hard and defeated Paxton 45-39! What a truly intense game! May-Hay Wolves went back into action on December 29th going to Cambridge. The Wolves had a really hard game but played their hardest. At half MHC trailed Cambridge 30-32, they continued to work hard but lost to the Cambridge Trojans 55-58. January 2nd, MHC Wolves traveled to Eustis to play against Hi-Line. They had another amazing game, at half the Wolves lead the Bulls 26-21. Then at the end of the game MHC Wolves defeated Hi-Line Bulls 53-44. MHS's next game was on January 5th, MHC hosted Paxton at Hayes Center. Wolves lead at halftime 25-24 over Paxton. The boys kept pushing and defeated Paxton 55-30. On January 23rd the May-Hay Wolves opened up the RPAC tournament in Maxwell against Hitchcock County. MHC Wolves won their first game in the tournament 60-34 defeating Hitchcock County! MHC continued to the RPAC Championship games on January 27th at McCook Community College. MHC Wolves played against Alma on this day. MHC boys fought hard leading Alma in the first half 19-16 and won 40-34 becoming back to back RPAC Champions! The next Basketball game for the boys was on February 1st against Hershey. MHC Wolves won the game 48-45! The next day February 2nd MHC Wolves hosted Hitchcock County Falcons in Hayes Center. The MHC boys ended up defeating the Falcons by 71-48. They boys went for their third win in three days on February 3rd at Merna. They were able to accomplish what they went out to do and defeated Anselmo-Merna 61-34! On February 16th the MHC boys jumped back into action at Grant. They played a hard game against Perkins County and lost 54-31. Then on February 20th MHC Wolves hosted D2-8 Sub Districts tournament at Hayes Center. MHC boys played against Wallace and won 77-46. For the D2-8 Sub District championship game MHC Wolves played against Medicine Valley at Hayes Center on February 22nd. They defeated Med Valley 73-50 and qualified for District Finals! On February 24th MHC Wolves hosted Potter Dix and defeated them 60-21 punching their ticket for State! Opening up for the state tournament on March 6th the Wolves went to Bob Devaney Sportscenter and played against Elm Creek. At the half Wolves lead Elm Creek 30-15. They continued to play hard and defeated Elm Creek. MHC Wolves continued to win their semifinals and went on to play against Shelton March 9th for the Championship. The Wolves ended their season as the State Runner Up's in Class D2, losing to Shelton, 54-42. What an incredible season, congratulation to the player and coaches! Also thank you to all of the fans that came out to support the Maywood Hayes Center Wolves during this season.
