Highlights of the Season!

Paxton Holiday Tournament (Champions!)

What a season the Maywood-Hayes Center Lady Wolves had this year! Here are a few highlights of the 2023-2024 Basketball Season.

MHC Lady Wolves started out the year at Wallace on December 1st. At half time our ladies lead Wallace by 30-8. Fishing the game, winning 54-30! On December 8th the girls traveled to McCook Community College for the semifinals of the Cattle Trail Tournament. They played against Medicine Valley Raider. During halftime our Lady Wolves lead against the Raiders 20-14. At the end of the night the girls won 39-33 punching their ticket to play in the championship game on December 9th. MHC Lady's traveled back to McCook Community College for the Cattle Trail Championship games to play against Southwest and during the half time MHC lead 18-8.  Our Lady Wolves battled tremendously and won the Cattle Trail Championship, defeating Southwest 39-21! MHC Lady Wolve's next game was on December 14th in Maywood and their opponent was the Brady Eagles. At half time our Lady Wolves lead the Lady Eagles 33-14. At the end of the game MHC defeated Brady 48-29. On December 21st our Maywood Hayes Center Lady Wolves traveled to Paxton High School for the championship game of the Paxton Holiday Tournament. On the 21st MHC played against Paxton winning the game/tournament 46-32! The May-Hay Lady Wolves were back in action on December 29th traveling to Cambridge. Our Lady Wolves battled very hard and lost to Cambridge 36-31. January 2nd was the next game for MHC at Eustis against the Hi-Line Bulls. At the half, the Lady Wolves lead the Bulls 39-6. MHC kept on pushing and ended the game winning 61-10. The next game was on January 5th at Hayes Center playing against Paxton. What an intense game it was! at the half, Lady Wolves and Paxton were tied at 22. MHC kept battling and and came out ahead 40-37. What a truly amazing game! Our Lady Wolves continued their season playing against DCS at Maxwell on January 22nd opening up the RPAC tournament. At the half, the Lady Wolves lead DCS 25-12. Then at the end of the night MHC defeated the DCS Tigers 48-30. January 25th, MHC played against Paxton in the RPAC semifinals at Hitchcock County in Trenton. At the half, our Lady Wolves lead Paxton 26-20. Winning the semifinals 52-43! The RPAC Championship game was played on January 27th at McCook Community College. Our Lady Wolves played against Southern Valley. MHC played their hearts out receiving 2nd place in the RPAC tournament loosing to the Eagles 50-34. On February 1st May-Hay Lady Wolves traveled to Hershey. The Lady Wolves lead Hershey 31-28 at half time. MHC defeated Hershey 56-50. The next day, February 2nd MHC hosted Hitchcock County in Hayes Center. During this game MHC Lady Wolves defeated Hitchcock County 48-31. Continuing to the next day, February 3rd MHC traveled to Merna to play Anselmo-Merna Coyotes. The Wolves won against the Coyotes 41-29. February 9th The Lady Wolves hosted a game at Hayes Center. MHC's opponent way WaPa and won 70-33. The girls D1-11 Sub District tournament resumed on February 13th. MHC Lady Wolves hosted this tournament playing against Hi-Line Bulls. The Wolves devoured d the Bulls winning 66-22. On February 23rd The May-Hay Girls basketball team played in the D1-8 District Finals at Kearney High School versus Eligin Public/Pope John. Our MHC Lady Wolves ended their season 21-3. They lost to Eligin Public/Pope John 51-44 becoming D1-8 runner-ups. Congratulation Lady Wolves and Coaches on all of your hard work and accomplishments, What an amazing season!
